Introduction
Secondary school
The secondary school offers 4-year studies in the discipline called Economy and Business which is suitable for pupils who have finished compulsory primary education. Since September 2011, the organization of education has been changed. The school is now a boarding school. The students spend every second weekend at school, i.e. 2 weekends per month. During the weekends, the students have the opportunity to practice their English speaking abilities. They take part in different leisure activities lead by native speakers. The new training programme of education will enable the effective connection between the studies and the practical application of the knowledge gained. The students will practice the skills which are necessary for successful entrepreneurship and for effective selling of various goods and services. They will communicate with top professionals from foreign countries who will pass on their best know-how to the students.
In April 2011 the owner of the school changed which meant the overall change of the conception of the school in three key areas:
Postponed school fees. Enabling students from socially handicapped families to study at our school is one of the main priorities of the school's owner. That is the reason for introducing of postponed fees instead of traditional fees (which were introduced in 1992). During the whole time of the studies, all the students' expenses are paid by the school's owner (textbooks and other materials for education, accommodation, leisure activities during the weekends). The parents of the students/ the students' guardians pay for boarding only. The graduates start paying the postponed school fees as soon as they start working. They have to pay for two years.
Boarding school. The school became a boarding school on 1st September 2011. This provides the opportunity for students from more distant regions to study at the school. The dormitory is opposite the school. The school canteen is also situated near the dormitory. Leisure activities during the week and the weekends are designed for learning English naturally, i.e. the students are accompanied by native speakers on trips and during various actions. For all the activities during the week and weekends we provide the pedagogical supervision.
Interconnection of theory and practice. The practical trainings take place one day a week. The students communicate with the foreign top entrepreneurs via videoconference and during this, they are learning about all activities concerning sale and trade. The students may also try the business activity practically and consult it with the professionals about it. The continuous practical training of the students takes place in different firms.
Business college
The fundamental philosophy of the school is to prepare the students for the practice. The specialized knowledge gained by the studies at secondary school is extended. At this school, the students acquire a complete economic education, excellent language skills and the know-how essential for running one's own successful business. Another possibility of using the knowledge gained is working in the middle management of large companies. The process of education at the college is supported by extensive practical training. This makes a perfect opportunity to apply the knowledge practically. The quality of education is still being enhanced. The education is supplemented by practical trainings abroad (Italy, Spain, Crete), by lectures on various topics given by professionals and by the continuous practical training in the 3rd year of the studies. Since 1st September 2011 the school has adopted the credit system of education, enabling bigger choice from optional subjects and larger autonomy of the students. Education at the college is charged school fees. The school fee for the year 2011/2012 is 21, 000 Czech Crowns.
